Benzotriazole (BTH) is a kind of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound with low toxicity and relatively stable chemical properties, which is widely used in organic chemical synthesis as an adjuvant. It is very easy to combine with other compounds through condensation, addition and other reactions to form a variety of benzotriazole derivatives, which can then be dissociated in a variety of ways. At the same time, because of its nitrogen structure and electronic cloud characteristics, it can coordinate with metal, and has more applications in metal coordination chemistry and other aspects.
Material Chemistry:
Common UV absorbers are divided into benzophenone, benzotriazole and hindered amines. Benzotriazole UV absorbers are widely used in plastics, especially in automotive coatings. The mechanism of benzotriazole UV absorbers is to convert the absorbed light energy into heat energy, which is based on the tautomers. Some studies have proved that the use of UV absorbers is to improve the light stability of silk. Benzotriazole structure UV absorbers not only absorb UV, but also can radiate the UV energy absorbed by them through heat, phosphorescence, fluorescence and other forms, and return to the ground state, thus protecting protein and dye. The following figure shows the action mechanism of benzotriazole UV absorber:

Benzotriazole UV absorbers are widely used in plastic products, coatings, adhesives, auto parts, wood plastic products, etc. because of their good UV absorption performance in the range of 200-400 nm, they are suitable for all kinds of light colored products and have synergistic effect with HALS. However, a composite comb light stabilizer with 2 (2 ', 4' - dihydroxyphenyl) 2H benzotriazole, polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether and piperidinol as the main raw materials has better comprehensive anti ultraviolet aging performance than low molecular light stabilizer, which can prevent the material from aging too fast and extend the service life of the material.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry:
Benzotriazole family is a kind of drug carrier molecules with broad-spectrum biological characteristics, including antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer and so on. Protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs) are the key targets of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic tumor drugs, such as benzotriazole, which competes with ATP in the adenine binding region of protein tyrosine kinases to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by blocking the signal transduction of phosphorylation and inhibiting the abnormal expression of PTKs. PTKs can transfer γ - phosphate from ATP to regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, metabolism and anti apoptosis signals.
